Tutorial: SFV files with QuickSFV
Note: SFV actually is a rather old method, PAR2 is more popular nowadays. Therefore I recommend using QuickPar (which can also handle SFV files) instead of QuickSFV.
Creating SFV files
After installing QuickSFV we select all files we are going to post, right click on one of the files and choose Create .SFV file.
Enter the filename here.
QuickSFV is creating the SFV file...
And see the result. This all did cost us less then two minutes but is very useful for leechers!
Creating a SFV file using PowerPost
It is also possible to have a SFV file automatically being created by PowerPost when we are actually going to upload our post. Therefore I recommend you read the PowerPost tutorial first and then come back here. To create a SFV file using PowerPost, just add your post in the normal way. At the Checksums tab, check the Generate .SFV file option and choose the location where you want to save it. Note that a .SFV file is being created when you click the OK button and automatically being added to your batch.
Checking files with a SFV file
If you downloaded something and a SFV file was posted along, it is very easy to check if the files weren't damaged during the download. Just install QuickSFV and open a SFV file by double clicking it. (Note: QuickPar can also be used to check files using a SFV file)
And see the results of a post I downloaded: all the files are complete.
